MAKIAS IN ETHIOPIA
MAKIAS IN ETHIOPIA

My wife Clare and I are both retired Catholic primary school headteachers.

We have just returned from a month's voluntary work at a Salesian Sisters school near Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. While we were there I photographed a nursery pupil, Makias, wearing a St Joseph's, Bradford sweatshirt! Many of the poor families purchase used clothing in markets in Ethiopia. I wonder what sort of story the sweatshirt could tell?

With my very best wishes to all the staff and children at St Joseph's. John Greenwood, Ulverston, Cumbria.
